About

Mindfully Marvellous was created in 2016, a few months after completing a degree and a couple years on from piecing my life back together after some tough personal challenges.  I came across a guided meditation on YouTube by Deepak Chopra, which started me on a journey to healing.  On that journey, I committed to myself to set time aside each day to meditate. I learnt about being present, about feeling gratitude for all the experiences in my life (good and bad), and I learnt to notice my body, my thoughts and my emotions.

I learnt that meditation doesn’t remove obstacles but it builds you up from the inside to become more resilient.  I suppose it’s like going to the gym to build physical fitness, except in this case you are building resilience of the mind (and to an extent emotions).  The more I meditated the clearer I could see things, I developed appreciation and I felt abundant.  By noticing, I began to understand why I behaved in certain ways and I could link the crutches (i.e. food, drink, anything to distract my disappointments and perceived failures) that I put in place to hide from these upsets; I then focussed on committing to healthier and kinder practices in my life.

Mindfully Marvellous is a journey that I embark on every single day.  Each day is a new opportunity to grow and to experience.  Having this mindful practice keeps me grounded and connected.  This blog is a platform to share elements of my journey with anyone who is interested.  But, most importantly, this blog is a journal; a place where I can jot down ideas and realisations.  It’s a place where I can share the ups and downs of how I am managing to find balance, show gratitude, and where I hope to share some positivity with the world (or at least with world-wide web).

A little about me…

I’m a mother of two amazing kids.  We live in North London, where I also work as the Director of an HR department for a ‘glocal’ tech company in Old Street.  I’ve spent over a decade in formal education, learning about business management and organizational psychology.  My current research is focused on adults with autism spectrum disorder in the workplace and neurodiversity.  I am very passionate about helping people with disadvantages to reach their potential in our society, so elements of this blog are dedicated to raising awareness of neurodiversity.

Hobbies and interests include meeting people (especially learning about their stories and cultures), travelling, yoga, esoteric topics, technology, nature, art and playing games with my kids.

So, without making my ‘about’ page sound like a dating profile (which it probably does), I will sign-off here!  Please feel free to connect and share your story!
